Anyone who has had to regularly post content to social Media sites will know just how time consuming that can be. Social Media Marketing tools like Hootsuite can save you a lot of time and make the task of marketing your business online a much less-stressful one.

What is Hootsuite and What Does it Do?

In its simplest form, Hootsuite is an auto-scheduling system that lets you load up content for your Social Media pages and post them at a pre-arranged time. I regularly use this for clients, writing a month’s worth of posts and then loading them up to be released at the rate of one per day. That’s it, done, I don’t have to think about that for another month.

There is, however, much more to Hootsuite than that. Once you’ve saved yourself a few hours by automating the onerous task of posting Social Media content, why not take a look at the other tasks that Hootsuite can perform for you.

The first, and in my opinion the most useful, of these is that of “Social Media Monitoring” – the process of constantly monitoring online traffic for mentions of you, your business, your brand or relevant keywords that you have specified. If done properly this can give you two main advantages:

1. It lets you discover online dialogue about your product or market and interact with those conversations when it is appropriate and advantageous to do so. So, if you sell golf clubs and there’s a dialogue going on about some new development in golf clubs then you can join in and subtly draw attention to yourself, your website and your products or services.
2. It picks up adverse mentions which could result in damage to your online reputation.
